young people, unsatisfied with being called
Generation Y, Generation
9-11, and countless other
ill-fitting
monikers, are
launching a one-time online compilation of written work with
the intention of inviting people between the ages of fifteen
and
thirty-five to talk to each other
through literature. We're
calling it "The Splinter Generation"—a name that we posit
might
feel more appropriate, even if just temporarily, until we start hearing
each others' voices and perhaps think of something better. We are looking for voices
of a generation; we are
wary of saying
anything more than that because we want to hear from all parts of the
generation, even the ones that may not agree with our thesis.
Our aim
is the personal and the authentic and the generational. We want to find
pieces that could only have come from us. We will publish on our web
site between fifteen to twenty pieces of fiction, creative nonfiction,
poetry and book reviews. Please carefully read our guidelines before submitting. The deadline is May 15, 2008. |
