You spent a lot of time up there bashing a wedding, regardless of what it entailed, so why did you even have one at all? You should have left it as “I don’t want to”.

Love this! I can remember well the faces of annoyance I received when I announced I was not holding a traditional wedding. You’d think I’d announced they I was devoting my life to Satan!! Well done

Great article! I think my recently married cousin who also didn’t wear white or be “given away” will appreciate it.

It also made me think, since the white gown represents “purity” (i.e. a virgin woman) couldn’t it also be argued that it is in some ways hypocritical for most women to wear white? They are not only following tradition but also representing moral/religious beliefs that they don’t actually possess.
