Submission Guidelines

The Splinter Generation accepts high quality fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and book reviews. Every piece need not --and hopefully will not -- be an essay on how awesome and/or lazy and/or cynical we all are. In other words, please do not submit rants without literary merit. All we ask is that you have characters, stories or poetry that somehow embody this generation. In the case of book reviews, authors should review from a generational perspective or find books written by members of this generation.

Columbine
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, and even encouraged -- just please let us know if you are accepted elsewhere. Previously published work is ok as long as you retained the rights. Please only one piece per person per genre.

Please include a brief three to four sentence biography. We will not consider work that  is not accompanied by a biography!

fiction
Please keep submissions to 5,000 words. Short stories or self-contained book excerpts are ideal. Genre work will be considered as long as it has something to do with our generation.

nonfiction
There is a 5,000 word limit for creative nonfiction pieces. We accept personal essays, book reviews, memoir and humor. We are not looking for academic work or journalism unless it has literary merit. In other words, if we see unnecessary statistics or notice that there is no narrative, we will not consider the piece.

poetry
Please submit no more than 3 poems of any style (except epic, for obvious reasons.)

HOW TO SUBMIT
We accept all submissions electronically. Please send work to splintergeneration at gmail dot com (replace at with @ and dot with .)  LIST YOUR GENRE in the subject line of the email.

Unfortunately, we cannot pay for accepted submissions (we can't even pay ourselves!) You will, however, retain all rights and be able to brag to your friends that you were published in the best generational literary compilation of its kind!
